WHY SEEK PHYSIOTHERAPY TREATMENT?
Physiotherapy is a vitally important component of a comprehensive approach to physical health and can have a profound impact on the healing and rehabilitation of a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. Physiotherapists are specially trained to create individualized physical therapy programs – whether the goal is to reduce pain, improve function, or increase strength and flexibility. Physiotherapy is also an effective way to manage injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents, work place injuries, for post-surgical recovery and for pre-surgical “pre-hab”. The programs designed by a physiotherapist can help speed recovery, promote a more active and independent lifestyle and support physical disabilities.
WHAT IS PHYSIOTHERAPY?
Physiotherapy focuses on improvement of physical health and restoration of movement and function related to injury, illness or disability. Physiotherapy is an effective way to manage and rehabilitate injuries sustained in sports, motor vehicle accidents and the work place, for pre/post-surgical recovery and is effective for both acute (short-term) or chronic (long-term) conditions. Physiotherapists are specially trained to assess and treat musculoskeletal conditions through a number of approaches, including movement and exercise prescription, manual therapy, modalities such as TENS or ultrasound and health education and advice. Physiotherapy is an important part of a comprehensive healthcare approach and can have a profound impact on the healing and rehabilitation process for a wide range of musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiovascular conditions.
